The dye I used was 116: Brazilnut. On their website it appears sort of a slate-brown, but as you can see from my jacket, in hemp and linen it turned out more like the color of an old blackboard. Yes, it has some drawbacks, like color fastness, but most of the drawbacks work in your favor for a distressed final result. And yeah, putting dye in a wash machine is never a good idea. You have more contol over the final color when you use a plastic tub and you don't have to clean out the machine when you're done.
