Michael Crichton Pirate Latitudes

Michael Crichton Pirate Latitudes.

That’s right – Michael Crighton, famous for sci-fi novels about cloned dinosaurs and pschotic diamond-hording apes, is now publishing a pirate novel – “Pirate Latitudes.” Or rather, being as Crighton passed away last month, I suppose his estate is publishing it. Regardless – new pirate novel on the horizon, and thanks to Red Beard for bringing it to my attention!

  1. Spoiler alert!

It’s about ship stealing purple monkeys that bury doubloons on Giant Lizard Island.

They’re already making the movie and Spielberg plans to screw it all up.

  2. This book completely sucked in a been-there-done-that-waaay-better way. There’s a reason Crichton never submitted it for publication…

  3. I’ve just started it, and I had a lot of fears that I’d feel the same as Paisley. So far though, I’m rather enjoying it. Has more of a mission impossible feel than a standard pirate story. And I don’t think I’ve ever seen the gritty reality of the golden age of piracy portrayed in a more realistic (meaning less romantic) way. But still, just getting started 🙂
